Ian is a geologist with over 25 years of experience in the exploration and mining industry including 15 years at MSA. He has advised clients and participated in and managed geological and structural mapping projects, mineral exploration/geochemical surveys and multi-disciplinary mining study projects in South America, the Middle East, Central Asia and over 20 African countries. He also has experience in advising and working on projects together with governments including chairing Southern African Development Community (SADC) working groups and joining bilateral governmental delegations, as well as managing World Bank funded projects in Mozambique and Madagascar. He joined MSA in 2007 and has held various positions in the company including Head of Geology, Head of Group Operations and General Manager before being appointed as Managing Director in 2019. Ian has a PhD in geology from the University of the Witwatersrand and EMBA from the University of Cape Town.
