HISTORY

The MSA Group (Pty) Ltd was established in South Africa in 1983 as Mike Scott Associates and in 2018 celebrated its 35th year in business. Although this previously family-owned business is now part of the internationally renowned Royal Bafokeng Group, it still retains its close-knit culture through its people first approach to everything that it does.

In 2008 MSA added Environmental consulting services to its already well established geological, exploration and mineral resource pedigree. In 2009 it added Mining Studies. In 2021 we added our Kazakhstan registered company MSA-MC and our UK registered business MSA Mining Consulting UK to our family.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

The MSA Group’s policy is to comply with all relevant statutory provisions that apply for each international region and all local regulations within each region as well as other legal requirements. This policy applies to the MSA offices as well as at any operational sites at which MSA is undertaking contractual work.

We provide and maintain safe and healthy working conditions, equipment and systems of work for all our employees and communicate and provide such information, training and supervision and resources by eliminating risks and reducing hazards as required for this purpose. We also accept our responsibility for health and safety of all others who may be affected directly, or indirectly, by our activities.

MSA and its personnel are mindful of the sensitive environments in which we operate and our policies ensure that both the physical and social environments are disturbed as little as possible. MSA employs local people whenever possible and encourages skills transfer to, and training of local personnel.

MSA committed to putting the safety and well –being of all its stakeholders at the top of its agenda. All areas of Health and Safety management are addressed including legal compliance, objective achievement, competence, training, operational control, emergency readiness and performance measuring and monitoring.

MSA has an extensive list of Insurances and emergency cover – MSA provides full medical cover and emergency evacuation cover for all permanent staff and contractors. It has comprehensive Public Liability, Vehicle Insurance, contributes to Workman’s Compensation and Professional Indemnity, all of which limits risk to all parties when doing business.

This standard ensures that processes are in place for the continual review and improvement of occupational Health and Safety management at MSA.

ETHICS AND INDEPENDENCE

MSA does not hold any equity in any of our clients’ projects or companies. This enables us to provide un-biased, balanced and non-conflicted opinions on projects.

We have a zero-tolerance approach to bribery and corruption and our staff and partners must comply with all applicable laws, regulations or policies relating to economic sanctions, trade sanctions and/or export controls and the prevention and combating of Bribery, corruption and money laundering.

MSA is proudly ISO 9001:2015 certified and has retained its certification since 2011. MSA believe that the quality of our customer service and the services we provide is paramount and we measure ourselves against the most stringent international benchmarks.

BROAD BASED BLACK ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

The MSA Group is a majority black-owned South African company.
MSA is a level 4 Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) contributor that is committed to transformation and BBBEE development and compliance. MSA has for many years been focussed on the vision and objectives expressed in the governments’ BBBEE strategic plan.

It is the organisations strategic aim to remain a contributor to BBBEE in the foreseeable future. This commitment involves the creation and on-going development of an enabling environment for effective BBBEE within MSA along with a number of programmes to uphold the principles of BBBEE within our organisation.
